Volker Bertelmann wins the Oscar for Best Original Music for his score to “All Quiet on the Western Front”.
German composer Volker Bertelmann has won the Oscar for Best Original Score for his score for the film All Quiet on the Western Front. Bertelmann, also known by his stage name Hauschka, has a long career in the film music industry: among his numerous film scores are the soundtracks for films such as Adrift, In Dubious Battle, Ashes in the Snow or Hotel Mumbai as well as the TV series Patrick Melrose, Gunpowder and Dublin Murders. Bertelmann had already been nominated for an Oscar in 2017 for his collaboration with Dustin O’Halloran on the score for the feature film Lion, the year in which the score for La La Land won.
