The Swiss composer, oboist and conductor Heinz Holliger performs in Madrid at the Marqués de Salamanca Palace.
The veteran Swiss composer, oboist and conductor Heinz Holliger (Langenthal, 1939), will perform tomorrow Tuesday in Madrid as soloist and conductor of a musical programme entitled Holliger conducts Holliger, which will consist exclusively of his own compositions. Leading the PluralEnsemble, the instrumental ensemble specialising in 20th and 21st century music founded by Fabián Panisello, its chief conductor, the concert will be held at 19: 30 at the Palacio del Marqués de Salamanca (c/Recoletos 10), Madrid headquarters of the BBVA Foundation, and will consist of the following pieces: Rechant (2009) for solo clarinet; Quintet for Winds and Piano (1989); a selection of Lieder ohne Worte (1985) for violin and piano; Berceuse pour M. (2015) for English horn; Lebenslinien (2020-21) for solo piano; and Ma’mounia (2002) for solo percussion, flute, clarinet, horn, piano and cello. In the programme, written by Tomás Marco, in which the pieces to be performed in the concert are described, the Madrid composer explains that Holliger is “one of the most important members of the second post-war serial generation, with a music that was based on the premises of the Darmstadt School but which contributed new ideas and a singular lyrical and expressive nuance”.
