The catalogue of the prestigious British label Hyperion is now available on digital platforms.
Four months ago the prestigious British record label Hyperion was acquired by Universal, adding to a classical music catalogue that already included the Decca and Deutsche Grammophon labels. Until now, Hyperion’s recordings were not available for listening on digital platforms, but having joined the multinational, much of its catalogue has become available and it is estimated that by spring 2024 more than two thousand of the records released by the label founded by Ted and Doreen Perry in 1980 will be available on Spotify. Among the first two hundred discs already available is French-Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin’s 2016 recording of For Bunita Marcus, a solo piano work, over seventy minutes long, composed by Morton Feldman in 1985, two years before his death. Two other contemporary classical albums released by Hyperion and now available on Spotify are Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus and Des canyons aux étoiles… by Olivier Messiaen.
