The 12 Ensemble, at the Cubitt Sessions.
The 12 Ensemble is one of the European string chamber ensembles that is rapidly gaining prestige in the field of contemporary (and classical) music. It was founded in 2012 by its artistic leaders Eloisa-Fleur Thom and Max Ruisi and its main characteristic is that they perform without a conductor… The rock world has recently discovered them thanks to their string arrangements for Carnage, the latest album by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis . This Saturday August 14 they are taking part in the Cubitt Sessions of The Kings Place which will be held in the Coal Drops Yard shopping complex at London’s King’s Cross station with a programme of pieces by Arvo Pärt (Fratres), Caroline Shaw (Entr’acte) and Sigur Ros (Fljotavik), as well as Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.
