Neopercusión opens the CIMCO in Oviedo.
Today, Tuesday, CIMCO, the Interdisciplinary Chamber Music Cycle of Oviedo, which aims to attract new audiences to classical music, kicks off. Organised by the Oviedo violist and cultural manager Cristina Gestido, it is a cycle of ten chamber music concerts, spaced between 26 October and 23 June 2022. It opens tonight at 20:00 with a concert of contemporary music by the group Neopercusión at the Philharmonic Theatre in the capital of the principality. The programme consists of 24 Loops by Frenchman Pierre Jodlowsky, Popular Contexts Volume 6 by Australian Matthew Shlomowitz, Spot Tornado by American Frank Zappa (1940-1993), Inergys by Belgian Wim Mertens, Silent Post by German Alexander Schubert, and Grab It! by Jacob ter Veldhuis, known as Jacob TV.
The remaining concerts will feature the Danish wind quintet Carion Wind Ensemble (25th November); the Polish accordionist Bartosz Glowacki (16th December); the Canary Islands group Quantum Ensemble (13th January); the Gijón-based Enol Ensemble (23rd February); the violin and viola duo of the Russian-born British Alexander Sitkovesky and the Ukrainian Maxim Rysanov (30th March); the Soinuaren Bidaia ensemble, led by Alberto Urretxo, trombone soloist of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (23rd April); a programme of current chamber music by the Asturian composers Israel Estelche, Ana Vázquez Silva and Manuel M. Burgos (28th April); the guitarist from Logroño, Pablo Sáinz-Villegas (26th May); and the mezzo-soprano from Alicante, Sandra Ferrández, with her recital of interwar songs From Paris to Berlin (23rd June).
