ICMA Awards finalists announced.

The finalists for the 2022 edition of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), which have replaced the MIDEM Classical Awards since 2011 and are awarded by a jury composed of representatives of the magazines and/or radio stations Andante (Turkey), Crescendo (Belgium), Das Orchester and MDR Klassik (Germany), Musica (Italy), Musical Life and Orpheus Radio (Russia), Musik & Theater (Switzerland), Opera (United Kingdom), Pizzicato and Radio 100.7 (Luxembourg), Polskie Radio Chopin (Poland), Radio Romania Muzical (Romania), Resmusica. com (France), Rondo Classic (Finland), Scherzo (Spain), Unison (Croatia), and IMZ International Music + Media Centre (Austria), and freelance journalists Aarno Cronvall and Stephen Hastings.

In the contemporary music category, the three finalist albums are as follows: Anajikon, the second album for ECM by Greek composer Konstantia Gourzi; Émergences-Résurgences / 4 Eindrücke /… Le ciel, tout à l’heure encore si limpide, soudain se trouble horriblement… by Swiss composer Michael Jarrell, published by BIS, and Violin Concerto / Hidd’n Blue / Mural / Four Iberian Miniatures / Aqua Cinerea, by Valencian composer Francisco Coll García -directed by Gustavo Gimeno-, published by Pentatone. The names of the winners will be announced on Tuesday 18 January 2022 and the award ceremony will take place at the Philharmonie in Luxembourg on 21 April.
