The German pianist Dirk Maassen presents in Madrid “Time”, his new album for Sony.
The German pianist and composer Dirk Maassen (Herzogenrath, 1970) performs tomorrow, Tuesday 14 June, in Madrid, at the Teatro San Pol, presenting live his new album, Time, released by Sony Classical at the beginning of June. The composer withdrew to a remote mountain refuge in the South Tyrol region in Italy to compose this new album, in order to find his inner melody in solitude and silence.
Trained as a classical pianist, and influenced by the music of Schubert, Bach and Chopin, Maassen has been a Sony Classical artist since 2020. However, the composer rejects the label “classical” for his compositions, which he himself conceives much more as pop. The term postminimalism could also be applied to him, as his pieces, created from recurring, catchy motifs, develop from small melodic fragments and unfold fluidly with decisive climaxes.
