Thomas Adès, Ankdy Akiho, William Brittelle, Missy Mazzoli and Jessie Montgomery are nominated for the Grammy for Best Contemporary Classical Composition.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) has announced the nominees for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be presented on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) in Los Angeles.

In the category of Best Contemporary Classical Composition the nominees are:

– Thomas Adès, for Dante (performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel).

– Andy Akiho, for In That Space, at That Time, the concluding piece of his album Sculptures, released on his own record label, Aki Rhythm Productions (performed by the Omaha Symphony, conducted by Ankush Kumar Bahl)

– William Brittelle, for Psychedelics, the three-movement piece that opens the Roomful of Teeth album Rough Magic.

– Missy Mazzoli, for Dark With Excessive Bright, the piece that opens and closes Missy Mazzoli’s album of the same title (performed by the Bergen Philharmonic and violinist Peter Herresthal, conducted by James Gaffigan).

– Jessie Montgomery, for Rounds, the opening piece of STILLPOINT, the album by pianist Awadagin Pratt and the chamber orchestra A Far Cry, which also features the vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth).
