Robert Black, Andy Akiho, Yuja Wang, Curtis Stewart and Seth Parker Woods, Grammy nominees for Best Classical Instrumental Solo.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) has announced the nominees for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be presented on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) in Los Angeles.
In the category of Best Classical Instrumental Solo the nominees are:

  • Darkness and Scattered Light, the album by John Luther Adams, performed by the recently deceased double bassist Robert Black.
  • Cylinders, by composer Andy Akiho, a piece included in his album Sculptures, which he performs himself as a percussionist.
  • The American Project, the album in which pianist Yuja Wang performs as soloist, with the Louisville Orchestra conducted by Teddy Abrams.
  • Difficult Grace, the album by cellist Seth Parker Woods.
  • Of Love, the album by violinist Curtis Stewart, composed after the death of his mother, in which he performs his own pieces and his reinterpretations of works by Alice Coltrane, Johannes Brahms, Duke Ellington, Karol Szymanowski, Henry Purcell and jazz classics.
