Last session of “Feedback” at Fabra i Coats, with a concert by percussionist Luis Tabuenca and videos by Úrsula San Cristóbal.
This Wednesday, 27 March, at 19:00, the last of the seven sessions of the exhibition of avant-garde artistic projects Feedback will take place at Barcelona’s Fabra i Coats: Fábrica de Creación. The exhibition, which began on 31 January, has so far offered twelve proposals (two per session) from different disciplines (music, theatre, dance, video creation, etc.) and ends with a programme featuring the creations of the Spanish composer and percussionist Luis Tabuenca, on the one hand, and the Spanish video artist and composer Úrsula San Cristóbal, on the other. The event, which is free of charge, is open to debate with the public and will be moderated by Imma Fernández, a journalist from El Periódico de Cataluña.
Luis Tabuenca (Zaragoza, 1979) published a few months ago his album Naturstudium: six pieces for percussion created in 2018 during an artistic residency at Fabra i Coats, which is, in fact, the first part of a trilogy of works whose title refers to Wege des Naturstudium [ways of studying nature], the essay published by the painter Paul Klee in 1923 in the weekly magazine of events of the Bauhaus school. The second part of the cycle was composed in 2021, for soprano saxophone, and the third (and last for the moment) is entitled Naturstudium 3 and has been composed for Baschet sound sculptures.
It is from this work that Tabuenca is going to offer a twenty-minute sample, since, as the author explains by e-mail, it is “a sixty-minute composition that is in the process of creation and which will be recorded this summer with the ensemble Les Percussions de Strasbourg”, and which will be released on record by the Barcelona label Neu Records.
For her part, the intervention of Úrsula San Cristóbal, professor of music in audiovisual media at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and professor of aesthetics, communication and research methodology at Taller de Músics, will consist of the projection of three pieces of video art and experimental music of her own creation: No soy esa que te has imaginado, Radicalmente vivas and Memento mori, memento vivere, created during San Cristóbal’s artistic residency at Fabra i Coats.
