A programme at the Festival Castell Peralada will offer three pieces by Spanish composer Raquel García-Tomás.
The Spanish composer Raquel García-Tomás (Barcelona, 1984), winner in 2020 of the Spanish National Music Prize in the Composition category, will be the star of a concert at the Castell Peralada Festival this Wednesday. The cloister of El Carme will host the first joint performance of the three Baroque-inspired works by Raquel García-Tomás. The composer will offer a chamber programme in which her three compositions will dialogue with those of Bach and Monteverdi. Alongside the French Suite No. 2, BWV 813 (Allemande) and the Invention for Three Voices No. 11 in G minor, BWV 797 by Johann Sebastian Bach and Sfogava con le stelle, from the fourth book of madrigals for five voices by Claudio Monteverdi, García-Tomás will be represented by My Old Gramophone #2 (2019), performed by mezzo-soprano Lidia Vinyes-Curtis and pianist Noelia Rodiles; and [… così mostraste a lei i vivi ardori miei […] (2015), which will be performed by the quartet Cosmos, the same that commissioned the composer, in 2018, to revise the work. The third of García-Tomás’ works to be offered during the concert will be the world premiere of the chamber version of Suite of Myself – the choral symphonic work premiered at L’Auditori this past spring -, which will be performed by the Ensemble O Vos Omnes choir, the Cosmos quartet and the pianist Noelia Rodiles.
