Anna Webber streaming concert at the Roulette.
Tonight, at 2 a.m. from Thursday to Friday (8 p.m. New York time), Canadian composer, saxophonist and flautist Anna Kristin Webber (Vancouver, 1984) will present her album Idiom live at the Roulette club in Brooklyn. Halfway between contemporary classical and jazz, the album was released last May on the Pi Recordings label. Five of the pieces are composed for his Simple Trio of piano (Matt Mitchell), drums (John Hollenbeck) and tenor saxophone and flute (Webber herself), but the longest, Idiom VI (over an hour long, divided into six movements), is scored for a twelve-instrument band conducted by Eric Wubbels and was commissioned by John Zorn for his music sponsorship project The Stone. The concert will be streamed live on the internet via www.roulette.org‘s Vimeo.
