The Jornadas de Música de Segovia begin.

The twenty-ninth edition of the Jornadas de Música Contemporánea de Segovia, organised by the Fundación Don Juan de Borbón, will begin this Friday, 12th November. As is traditional, the central nucleus is concentrated on this November weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) with three concerts in the Sala Ex.Presa II of La Cárcel de Segovia_Centro de Creación, and will continue until 29 May 2022 with one concert per month. In total, 21 premieres will be offered, distributed in nine concerts, and 12 workshops for schoolchildren.

On Friday, at 20:00, the Kebyart Ensemble will perform four works for saxophone quartet by Florent Schmitt (Quartet for saxophones, op. 102), Peter Eötvös (Lectures différentes) and María de Alvear, whose work Liberar, composed this year, will be performed. On Saturday 13 November at 19:00, at the same venue, Ensemble Sonido Extremo will premiere Ill-use, by José Luis Perdigón, within a programme of young Spanish composers such as Núria Giménez Comas and Mikel Urquiza, as well as the Spanish-Portuguese Inés Badalo and the Ukrainian Anna Korsunn. Finally, on Sunday, November 14, at 19:00, the brass quartet Art of Brass Valencia will close the first chapter of the Jornadas at La Cárcel de Segovia with a more eclectic programme (from Bach to Piazzolla, passing through Bernstein, Philip Sparke, Adolphus C. Hailstork, Dunia Pérez Alcaraz and Amparo Edo Biol), in which the version for brass quartet of Canadian Portraits, by Manuel Carrascosa Pérez, will be premiered.
