Premiere of Marc Migó by streaming from NYC.

Today, Friday, at 7:30 p.m. EST (1:30 a.m. Friday to Saturday, Spanish time), will be the premiere of La Dona d’aigua, a work by the young Catalan composer Marc Migó (Barcelona, 1993) with which he has won, for the second time in his career, the Annual Prize for Orchestral Composition at the Juilliard School in New York. Migó trained at the ESMUC in Barcelona and is currently studying for a doctorate in Composition with John Corigliano in New York.

As Migó explains by email, this work is “an adaptation of the second half of my Sonata for cello and piano ‘Cerdanyenca’, which was awarded the Pablo Casals de Prades festival prize in 2019. The sonata is to be recorded at the end of December for the Spanish label IBS Classical”.

La Dona d’aigua will be performed by solo cellist Aaron Wolff and the orchestra of the Juilliard School of Lincoln Center in New York, conducted by Jeffrey Milarsky, and is part of a programme that will also include Christian Bloquert’s Constellations, at Night; Fractured, by Liam Diethrich, and Rashomon (Arthur Friedman Prize winner), by Marshall Estrin. The concert can be watched live on the Juilliard School‘s website, free of charge, at the scheduled date and time. This performance won’t be available to stream afterward on demand.
